A judge sentenced a former U.S. Border Patrol agent to seven years in prison after he admitted to causing a fatal wreck in McAllen last year. Adrian Martinez Parada, 27, walked in to the 332ndstate District Court in suit jacket, carrying two bibles in his hands … Judge Mario Ramirez ordered Parada to pay $179,000 to [Abraham ] Sevilla’s family to cover medical expenses prior to his death, he added. Court personnel took Parada into custody after learning his sentence.

It’s seven years in prison for a former Border Patrol agent who killed a La Joya man in a drunk driving wreck last fall. The punishment comes two weeks after 27-year-old Adrian Parada pleaded guilty to a charge of intoxication manslaughter in the death of 21-year-old Abraham Sevilla. Parada admitted he’d been drinking, and that he was also texting, when he plowed his Mustang into the back of Sevilla’s Altima, which was stopped at the light …
